Dear Paskin,
The Norwegian S.S. "Prominent" left Bushire on March 10th with
445 cases of opium declared for Vladivostock. The vessel belonged to the firm of H.M. wrangell and Company, Haugesund, Norway. The attention of the Norwegian Government was called by the Secretary General of the League of Nations to the consignment, and the Norwegian Foreign Office have now written to the Secretary General saying that they are informed by the firm of rangell and Company that they have received from their office at Hong Kong, in reply to
a request for information, the following telegram
"Referring to your telegram of 27th 'Prominent' chartered
for lawful trade only. Left Bushire (Persia) 12th March due Macao (China) 5th April".
The vessel appears to have been chartered
under a Charter
Party dated 15th January, 1926, by the firm of wong Kan of Hong
Kong. It might be worth while to communicate this information
to the Government of Hong Kong with a view to enquiry into the
and Company's branch office at Hong Kong
proceedings of Wrangell
and the firm of Wong Kan.
Yours sincerely,
Malcolm Delevigne
